It's this time of the year again: The Shetland Wool Week.
Shetland: is a subarctic archipelago of Scotland that lies north-east of the island of Great Britain and forms part of the United Kingdom ∞ A place that I have not yet discovered, but that I dream of visiting one day.
Wool: The dense, soft, often curly hair forming the coat of sheep and certain other mammals, such as the goat and alpaca. ∞ One of my favourite thing in the world.
Week: a period of seven successive days ∞ I wouldn’t mind staying for more than seven successive days.
Yes, it's this time of the year again. If you remember, last year we had our very first SWW knit along and we had such a blast, that I thought it could be so much fun to renew the experience, play with new yarn, practice a bit of fair isle, meet new friends, and virtually discover Shetland through the sheepy pattern created by the amazing Donna Smith. Whether you're fairly new to stranded colorwork or not, come and join in the ravelry group and and participate!
This year we will received prizes from Jamieson's of Shetland and the 60° North Magazine, which includes yarnie prizes along with one copy of the Shetland Wool Week Annual. The KAL started on the 26th of September and will run until the end of October, so that gives you plenty of time to choose your yarn if you want to participate. You can get your free pattern here.
Happy Shetland Wool Week!
